FITNESS MAGAZINE APOLOGIZES AND OTHERS PROMOTE BEING FAT AS HEALTHY

by Matt Weik

I will start by stating this entire article is MY OPINION, and you can disagree, agree, not give two cow patties, I don’t care. But something needs to be said as this issue has gone too far, and someone needs to speak up. To give you a quick backstory, Women’s Fitness magazine posted on their Twitter account about heading outdoors to “burn off those Christmas calories,” and Cosmopolitan put extremely overweight women on their cover with the title, “This is Healthy!”

Joe Rogan is a man who needs no introduction. In fact, he’s a household name across this country. People listen to his daily podcast, watch him during UFC events, and people all-around seem to respect the man for voicing his opinion on various topics. Well, in December 2020, Joe had comedian Tony Hinchcliffe on his podcast as a guest, and the subject of testosterone came up. If you want to go back and check it out, it’s episode #1586, and the topic starts around the 34-minute mark.

WHO’S USING CREATINE TODAY?

by Christian Duque

Back many moons ago, when I was in high school, I remember strength coaches raving about a new supplement called creatine. It was natural, non-hormonal, and it was very effective. Back then, a 300g tub ran for about $100; today that same tub can be had for as little as $10. Now granted, you get what you pay for and $10 for 300g of creatine in 2021 is probably not high grade at all, but it’s not some kind of creatine.

WHAT IF THE ARNOLD CLASSIC AND ATHLETICON MERGED IN 2021?

by Matt Weik

Let’s have a little fun here, so I need you to run with me on this one but don’t worry, my cardio sucks, so you’ll be able to keep up. We all heard the announcement that the Arnold Classic in 2021 has been postponed. What exactly does that mean? The answer is still up in the air. Are they thinking of killing the Arnold Classic because of the 2020 disaster that took place, and they know many people and vendors out there will never attend again because of all the money they lost? Eh. I’m not so sure because it’s still one of the biggest and most prestigious shows out there. But… what if they merged with Athleticon?

WHY ARE NONE OF THE EXPERTS TALKING ABOUT STAYING ACTIVE?

by Matt Weik

While I’m only one person, this is a topic that needs to be discussed because I’m not sure what the “experts” are saying during the pandemic shutdowns make a whole lot of sense. To be frank, I think many of these experts are merely talking heads of what the government wants them to say. Not a single one of them is pushing staying active as a way to boost immunity, stay healthy, and potentially lower the risk of people getting COVID.

ARE PLATFORMS SHADOWBANNING SUPPLEMENT COMPANIES?

by Christian Duque

Social media is a great resource for fitness enthusiasts, competitors, & businesses catering to the industry. Interactive platforms bring people together from all over the world, spanning all age ranges, with unparalleled retention. Most people don’t buy magazines anymore, they don’t spend hours on message boards, and they don’t even watch much tv or listen to the radio. If you were to poll most young people, young adults, and even people up to middle-age, you’ll find that they spend more time on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. News apps are also springing up, competing for hits and traffic. These include Tiktok, Likee, and of course, Snapchat.

by Matt Weik

The 2020 Mr. Olympia was full of excitement and ended the year on a good and extremely exciting note. We got to see and witness the best of the best up on the Olympia stage, battling it out for the title and the honor to take home the Sandow trophy. When it was all said and done, Big Ramy was the last man standing and solidified himself in history as one of the greatest to ever win the prestigious Mr. Olympia title. WILL BIG RAMY HOLD ONTO THE TITLE FOR YEARS TO COME?

by Christian Duque

Here we go, folks!! Are you ready? Big Ramy hasn’t been Mr. Olympia for two weeks and now you have a cluster of industry insiders saying Ramy will hold the title for years to come. Let’s break this down. For starters, it took Ramy six tries before he was able to put everything together – and – he was the only guy on that stage who didn’t earn the right to be there.

TRAFFICKED – THE MAN BEHIND THE NEEDLE?

by Christian Duque

The title of this article is just one of many choice phrases used in this new National Geographic documentary “Trafficked – Takeaways: Steroids” all about Dr. Tony Huge. Yeah, I know he’s not a doctor, but he has a JD. He is not a medical doctor and a JD isn’t really a PHD, either, but it does have doctorate in the title. Anyways, no one actually thinks Huge is a doctor, it’s part of his schtick, and this documentary couldn’t help but feed on it, not even ten minutes in. That being said, don’t get it twisted, I love this documentary, from the naivety of the host, Martha Van Seller, to her fascination with Tony calling his athletes “guinea pigs,” to the soundtrack and special effects.
