BODYBUILDING AND DEPRESSION: IS THERE A CORRELATION BETWEEN THEM?

by Matt Weik

Doing something you love should be fun and bring joy to your life, right? If you were to look at sports, for example, there should be a level of enjoyment each time you pick up a ball, racquet, or bat. Generally, when you no longer find joy in something, or it stops providing you a sense of pleasure, you stop, no? Yet, when you look at bodybuilding, it appears that things aren’t always what they seem.

THE LAW OF ATTRACTION: FORCING FITNESS

by Matt Weik

For some of us, fitness and exercise are more for vanity’s sake than anything else. We strive to look good for the opposite sex. We want people to find us attractive. We diet, we hit the gym, we spend more time on cardio equipment than we care to remember – all to impress that hot chick or buff dude. But are we forcing fitness? Is it sustainable by simply being vain and wanting to be happy with what we see physically in the mirror?

DAVE PALUMBO, BOSTON LOYD SHOULD MAKE PEACE

by Christian Duque

It’s funny, but I often associate people with places – or vice versa. Whenever I think of Bostin Loyd, for example, I think of him at RxMuscle. Whether at their NY studios or there sprawling FL HQ, some of the best interviews and appearances the man once know as Big Daddy B made, seemed to happen alongside the bodybuilding legend, simply known as, Dave “Jumbo” Palumbo.

WHAT EVER HAPPENED TO TALKING WITH YOUR SPORTS NUTRITION CUSTOMERS?

by Matt Weik

Maybe I’m old school, but I see a lot of changes in the supplement and sports nutrition industry, and there are a ton of people complaining and losing money due to simply not going back to the basics. Look, I’m no marketing guru, but it seems like supplement brands think they know everything – and they very well may, but most are scratching their heads these days. Whatever happened to talking with your sports nutrition customers?

by Matt Weik

Look at just about anyone’s bio on Instagram these days who have a fitness or bodybuilding-related page and what do you see? “XYZ15 for 15% off of your LMNOP Supplements order.” Can we blame them for the ability to leverage their social media following to make some extra money or get free supplements? Heck no! But if you want to be a successful and resourceful brand ambassador, there are a few key things you need to possess.

WILL PHIL HEATH DO THE 2021 ARNOLD CLASSIC

by Christian Duque

With the announcement that the Arnold Classic had a hard date (9/25/2021) and would remain in Columbus, OH, fans couldn’t contain themselves from the excitement. This really is huge because unlike The Olympia, which will be held for its second year in Orlando, FL, The Arnold is happening in 2021 and it’s not leaving Columbus. If you guys recall – I mean how couldn’t you – the Arnold is where it all got started. Who can forget the poor Arnold amateur competitors going to bed in 2020, not knowing if they’d have a show to compete in, the next day. The expo was cancelled, lockdowns were starting, and within days from the event, the world as we knew it, simply stopped.

CELEBRITY BOXING MATCH: LEE PRIEST VS SHAWN RAY

by Christian Duque

Some things just never change. We often hope that we grow beyond petty rivalries and at some point, old feuds get put to bed; however, sometimes, bad blood is such that no amount of time will fix the mistakes of the past. The sport of bodybuilding is no different. There’s guys who haven’t spoken to each other for decades and it’s unlikely they ever will. I will say that when it comes to physique-based sports, the source of most spats, can be boiled down to success. As with any other scene, you have those who earned titles and accolades and others who simply didn’t. The have-nots are many and the vast majority blame others for their shortcomings. It’s the coach’s fault, the sponsors didn’t back them enough, or the real common culprit – it’s politics.

WHY DO YOU WORK OUT? EVERYONE HAS A BACKSTORY WORTH SHARING

by Matt Weik

If you consider yourself a fitness fanatic, do you ever wonder what other people’s story looks like? What I mean is the person working out next to you. Or the person you always see at the gym. What’s their backstory? Why do they work out, what results have they seen, and what goals have they accomplished? And more importantly, what obstacles have they needed to overcome?

GET ‘EM HOOKED YOUNG – CEREALS THEN SNACKS

by Christian Duque

It’s important that children and young adults eat nutritious breakfasts. After all, we want them to grow up to be strong and healthy. There’s a variety of great, easy to prepare, and inexpensive meal options you can prepare. Unfortunately, that’s not the topic of this article. Today, I’ll be discussing cereals that give children options like oatmeal cookies and cosmic brownies. You know, the essentials of good health. That’s right folks, because in a country devastated by obesity and adult onset diabetes, we can always use more sugar.
