by Matt Weik

There has been a debate for quite some time on whether you should eat before you exercise or if you should exercise when in a fasted state. The banter has been enough to turn people blue in the face arguing their point of view. Theories have gone back and forth for both sides, yet we never had a definitive answer as to which is the best option if you are trying to burn off some of your stubborn body fat. However, the time has come and researchers have now shed some light on the subject and have data to confirm which pre-workout ritual will yield the best results and which you should be utilizing to help achieve your health and fitness goals.

We’ve all been there—that time you ate way too much food and you feel disgusting. It could be due to heading out to your favorite restaurant or just a great homecooked meal. You overate. Now what? Head to the gym? Go for a walk? Lay on the couch and take a nap? Normally the latter is what most people do after a large meal where they stuffed their face. So how can you avoid this feeling of grossness and bloating? It’s quite simple when you think about it.

5 Methods to Maximize Your Muscle Pump

by Vince Del Monte

Discover 5 advanced techniques to maximize your muscle pump and promote faster muscle gains! The nuts and bolts of what you need to know. By restricting a working muscle from obtaining the oxygen it needs, a surplus of blood is sent to the muscle as the body panics, and when the working muscle is disengaged, all of this extra blood surges into the muscle creating the pump.
My favorite methods to create a pump are partial repetitions, reduced rest intervals, extended set methods, slow lifting/lowering tempos, and contrasting isometrics/flexing with dynamic loaded movements.

As a BB’r or any other weight training enthusiast looking to put on size, eating enough food to sustain one’s mass-building efforts over the long-term can prove to be a real challenge. Keep it Simple in the Gym for God’s Sake!

by Anders JP Eskilsson

It seems to me that when people of today finally buy gym memberships they often do it for the wrong reasons. It strikes me at times that new members are there for the purpose of either filling out their Instagram accounts or because they forced themselves to go there without intending to put any effort into their training. But hey!, they are actually there, and that can ease the anxiety over being totally out of shape (in a small way at least).

Apple Watch Decent for Tracking Fitness?

by Matt Weik

I don’t want to just praise the Apple Watch here but let’s face it, it’s the “new thing” to hit the market in terms of wearable devices these days. With the new craze surrounding the Apple Watch and it’s features, I must admit, if Apple wanted to send me a watch to test and evaluate, I’d accept the offer. The technology is amazing and seems extremely useful for business purposes when it comes to checking who’s calling, texts, emails, etc. But when it comes to the fitness side of the watch, that’s where I want to get down to business and find out how it really performs. The Apple Watch is swinging for the fences, but exactly how far is the ball traveling?

Minerals and Muscle

by Josh Hodnick

Dedicated bodybuilders pay extra attention to dietary and training details, which sets them apart from the average gym goer. This may include taking extra time to stretch and warm up before training, planning and preparing meals in advance, and logging all foods and supplements consumed. Many of even the most dedicated bodybuilders overlook elements in their diet that don’t provide protein, carbs, and fats.

Persistence is Key to Reaching Your Fitness Goals

by Josh Hodnick

Experience has shown me that a large number of people that begin a new workout and diet program, do so with unrealistic expectations. With two-thirds of the American population being overweight, and one-third being obese, countless weight-loss programs are being marketed to cash in on the obesity epidemic. Most diet and exercise programs being promoted in commercials or online are usually designed around a particular time frame, such as 30 days, 60 days, or whatever.

by Matt Weik

It’s official. We, Americans, have now deemed being fat as “ok” in our society. In fact, when compared to previous years, more people are saying they don’t need to lose weight—they’re in denial because of what we have created here in the states. This article might ruffle some feathers, and that’s ok. Being a leader in the industry doesn’t mean everyone is going to agree with you or like what you say, even when the facts are 100% accurate.
