What You Can Learn from a Gym loner

by Anders JP Eskilsson

I’m quite sure you have seen them while you have been training over the decades. They train alone, move slow and quietly between each exercise and hardly ever speak to anyone. They seem unimpressed by anything, rarely smile – sticking to their own business. I’ve seen them over the years; introverted; they don’t care about any flashy gym clothes; at many times covered up in hoodies, probably listening to trash metal bands like Megadeath or Pantera.

OVER-EATING: What You’re Doing Wrong

by Matt Weik

It’s not difficult to overeat. We can all sit down with a bowl of ice cream, a bag of potato chips, or whatever other indulgence you might enjoy and go to town. Or maybe it’s a poker night with the boys and you’re kicking back a few cold ones or enjoying a cigar with a few glasses of scotch or bourbon? Whatever the case may be, it doesn’t take long to completely crush your diet. All of those calories quickly add up in a hurry. When these types of behaviors are repeated often, the pounds will start creeping up on the scale. There are a few instances that we can encounter every single day that could throw our nutrition plans out the window. Don’t make these common mistakes.

Looking to SEAL the Deal with a Recovery Drink

by Matt Weik

It’s no secret that American’s love their stimulants, some more than others. But, one thing is for certain, the energy drink category seems to be forever growing. With new brands popping up left and right, it’s saturating the market, yet not really changing the landscape as a whole to the point where it’s even putting a ding in big brands’ armor. One brand in particular, Atlanta-based KILL CLIFF is being looked at carefully and investors are chomping at the bit to get the brand in their crosshairs. While not exactly an energy drink, it stands next to some of the biggest brands in the market.

But now we have a new equation to memorize, and that is SUGAR + PROTEIN = FAT. The combination of sugar and protein in a single meal can have some negative consequences when it comes to your overall health.

MultiVitamins are NOT Worthless and Fill a Void

by Matt Weik

If you do any reading in the industry, you’ll see the back and forth from people who side with vitamins and those who say you don’t need them—that you can eat all the micronutrients you need through the foods you eat daily. Well, while both may be true, supplementing with a mutlivitamins/multimineral product still seems like a good idea according to research done by Tufts University.

Why So Serious? The Life of a Bodybuilder

by Matt Weik

A famous line from the movie The Dark Knight is, “Why so serious?” said by the Joker. Maybe it’s just me, but I can see the pasty white-faced Joker walking up to many bodybuilders today and saying the same thing. Bodybuilders these days walk around like someone pissed in their Cheerios. What gives? Is life and bodybuilding that sad and depressing? It’s as if not many bodybuilders these days have fun while in the gym or even around town.
