POWERBUILDING AND THOSE WHO CAN CLAIM IT!

by Christian Duque

Labels can oftentimes be a little much. Back in the day, you could walk into a record store and look in three or four different sections for a tape or disc, before finally finding it. There wasn’t just a Rock section. There was Alternative, there was Metal, there was Punk, there was Industrial, there were endless genres that the album could be under.

THE DEATH OF GYMS? OVER 50% OF GYM MEMBERS WON’T RETURN

by Matt Weik

I received an email that I found extremely interesting. The email was from Nick Rizzo over at RunRepeat. They just published a Study that looked at nearly 11,000 gym members and how staying at home and this pandemic has changed their behaviors and lifestyles when it comes to health, fitness, and whether or not once gyms open back up if they will return.

ATHLETICON HAS BEEN POSTPONED AND MOVED BACK TO OCTOBER 2021

by Matt Weik

For those of you who were excited for Athleticon this year, you’re going to need to wait another year. In a move many of us are not surprised with, Dwayne Johnson and Dany Garcia pushed back the inaugural live event to October 2021. With everything going on, I feel it’s the best thing to do and agree with their decision to push back the event until the following year.

ESPORTS AND VIDEO GAMES WILL PAVE THE WAY FOR NEW SUPPLEMENT INNOVATION

by Matt Weik

Remember when your mom used to tell you to stop playing all those video games and that it’ll rot your brain? Or how about you’re a “geek” if all you do is play video games all day? Well, esports and video games are booming with no end in sight and I believe they are going to pave the way for new supplement innovation. Not only that, but esports and video games are making kids and the younger generation a lot of money. So much so that Ninja is playing video games full-time and making millions of dollars. Now, tell me again how bad video games are when the cash register keeps ringing?

SUPPLEMENT BRANDS… STOP ANNOUNCING YOUR NEXT MOVE MONTHS IN ADVANCE

by Matt Weik

I try to stay on top of the supplement industry and see what supplement brands are doing what and the new products they are releasing. That being said, I recently saw a brand announce they are coming out with a really cool product (I’m not going to name names) but mentioned they will be releasing it nine months from now. Wait… what? I kid you not.

WITH HOME GYM EQUIPMENT SALES UP, WILL GYMS SUFFER MORE?

by Matt Weik

Over the last few weeks, we have witnessed some sad news in the fitness community where gyms have been announcing closures (for good). One such gym chain that seems to be taking the pandemic the worst is Gold’s Gym who has come out and said they will be closing more than 30 locations due to the President and Governors saying gyms must close during these times. Yet, one area that has exploded over the last month is home gym equipment.

MOURNING IFBB PRO LUKE SANDOE

by Christian Duque

It’s always a very painful and sorrowful moment whenever we lose a member of the bodybuilding world. While our industry seems so large and expansive at expos, it’s really a small, tight-knit community and it’s times like these, when everyone comes together. I didn’t know Luke Sandoe, I didn’t talk to him on social media, in fact, I don’t ever think I even met him; however, he helped create something I really, truly, love – bodybuilding.

THE OLYMPIA WILL HAPPEN IN 2020!

by Christian Duque

The world of bodybuilding and fitness breathed a sigh of relief as the news went viral, that the Olympia Weekend would, in fact, be taking place in 2020. Nothing less should have been expected from new owner, Jake Wood, along with his team, led by Dan Solomon, now in his second year in the role of Chief Olympia Officer. This has been, without question, one of the toughest years the fitness industry has ever had to endure.
